What is a bypass shower door?
A bypass shower door is another name for a sliding shower door, which consists of two or sometimes three tempered glass or plastic panels. These panels are set in two aluminum tracks, one at the top and one at the bottom.
While water does pool in the bottom track, the drainage holes allow most of the water to flow back into the tub. However, the bottom track needs to be caulked to prevent water from entering and the caulking should be checked at least once a year to ensure that no water is spilled onto the bathroom floor or liner. The top track keeps the shower doors in line and prevents them from tipping over.
